he said he’d killed a mosquito down by the Rio Grande
that was carrying a canteen.

A friend in Deming told me the chicken
farmers there were giving the chickens crushed ice
to keep them from laying hard-boiled eggs.

Just this week, here in Albuquerque,
a man said he saw a fire hydrant bribing a dog and
at Elephant Butte Lake, another friend caught
a 20 lb catfish that had ticks on it!
